Extreme negative funding
On a perpetual contract the two sides pay each other at set intervals; the payment is called funding, and its job is to keep the contract's price from drifting away from the asset it tracks. When the rate turns negative the short side pays and the long side is paid, and what is measured here is that rate falling unusually far below zero.
